Financial Planning & Account Management

What to Expect

StraightLine employs an experienced research staff to explore and analyze the financial markets, selecting managers that best meet your goals. While some financial service firms do employ exceptional research departments, few individual advisors have the time to review their findings. Basically, it’s the difference between having a team of experienced professionals proactively managing your accounts versus one person occasionally reviewing your portfolio.
StraightLine has no proprietary obligations, which allows us to recommend only the funds which best fit your investment needs. Many advisors often face pressure to sell their own company mutual fund products. StraightLine uses state-of-the art analysis tools to hand pick mutual funds from the thousands available.
An important ingredient regarding performance is found in how much you are paying (and have paid) to purchase and hold a mutual fund. Brokers typically utilize “loaded” funds which are, in a word, expensive. StraightLine only uses “load-waived” or “institutional” funds which can have a dramatic effect on performance over time

A commission-based management structure can lead to excessive expenses and reduced investment returns. Generally, the more often brokers make changes to your accounts, the more money they make.

StraightLine bundles together a suite of services including account management, advisory services and investment research under a percentage-based fee. The advantage of this structure is that it protects you from unnecessary trading and product placement by commission-seeking advisors. Because StraightLine receives only a reasonable fee based on assets under management, your account is only traded when it is advantageous to you.

In a time when Wall Street has all but abandoned personal service for the average investor, StraightLine’s communication and service guidelines ensure that every single client receives personal attention. We provide periodic updates, timely market commentary, and personal account reviews to keep you informed
One of the greatest benefits of working with us is that you can rest easy knowing that your investments are being constantly monitored and managed by an unbiased, professional investment firm. The security of your assets is of utmost importance. StraightLine, therefore, undertook an exhaustive selection process to choose a custodial firm to house our clients’ assets. Criteria we screened for included a firm who is subject to the rules and regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and is a member of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC). A healthy financial picture with cash reserves, low debt, client assets under management and a strong capital position were also crucial. StraightLine has selected Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. as our primary custodian.
